Above everything else, we want you to know that a
relationship with God is possible for you. No matter who you are, where
you come from, what language you speak, what you look like, what you have done
and what has happened to you in your life, we want you to know that a
relationship with God is possible.
We want you to have hope that comes from knowing
that there is a force more powerful than all the forces of the world and the
universe put together, and that force is the power of the love of God extended
to all human beings in the arrival of Jesus Christ in our world.
And when we say, "all human beings," we
mean you.
God works with people, with each one of us, where
we really are and as who we really are. No one can take on the evil that we
human beings do and the power of death that now hovers over human life as a
result.
We were all created for love: love shared
with God and love shared among ourselves as human beings. Jesus took on
human flesh to bring near the unbreakable love that God has for all living
creatures. But we are afraid of it, afraid that it will ask more of us than we can give.
Discovering this love of God, given to those who
have no reason to expect it, is the Gospel lived out by Jesus Christ.
While
you are reading this page and looking at these words, the God who spoke the
worlds into existence by the power of his words of love is speaking your name
and pouring out love on you beyond all human ability to imagine. God
embraces you more strongly than your dearest friend, or the dearest friend you
can ever have.
Jesus himself came, fully knowing how strongly all of us
resist love. Yet, he came, and by his Spirit, he calls you home to a life
of love, the life we were all created to know.
